WE ARE PART OF THE CYCLE

We reuse silo bags and big bags to create different types of flexible and marketable containers. We work with sewing workshops led by rural women and women in situations of social, economic vulnerability which is often the result of living in rural areas where it is difficult for them to find employment.

THE PROBLEM

THE PROBLEM

There is a problem that affects us all, and it is garbage.
Specifically rural waste. We have observed that in rural establishments, materials such as silo bags, fertilizer bags and big bags, are discarded after use.

For the most part, inadequate practices are used to dispose of these materials, such as open burning, which disperses dioxins and furans into the air, or uncontrolled burying. Or they remain dispersed in the environment, presenting a low percentage of recovery, and contaminating water resources and soil.

THE SOLUTION

THE SOLUTION

To solve this problem, Mare, Sustainable was created.
Without the need to go through any technological process, we simply wash and dry the waste bags and we create an infinite number of products.

Swiss Community in Uruguay

On April 21, 2022, MARE signed a collaboration agreement with the Swiss Embassy, the Municipality of Nueva Helvecia, the Rural Development Society of Colonia Suiza, and the Nueva Helvecia Shelter Social Center, in Nueva Helvecia.

It was framed within the REIintegra program, an initiative that provides, through public-private alliances, the opportunity to generate alternatives and provide solutions to problems such as the lack of employment in certain vulnerable segments of the population. The particular focus is on reducing inequalities of gender.

To this end, the Swiss Embassy donated sewing machines that will be used to train and employ seamstresses in the area, so that they can produce for MARE. Thus reusing rural waste in the area.
